Guess what? NOT EATING can cure you faster and more reliably than most medicines of the world!!!
Fasting is integrated into our culture from centuries. Most Asian and Middle Eastern cultures have fasting ingrained into the fabric of the nation. And the beauty is that our ancient cultures knew exactly how to do it. They knew that the mind revolts against whatever it’s asked not to do. So, if we tell ourselves ‘today I am not going to eat anything”, then the mind invariably thinks of food in one minute!! So our ancient sages were so brilliant that they suggested fasting on festivals. As soon as we add religion to the mix, many more people join the party and so millions of people started fasting for various festivals.
I saw my grandmother fasting 6 -8 times a month, and guess what she never once had the flu or a cold or ANY single disease! We can give credit to her fabulous health partially due to her fasting schedule.
My own life transformed when I started fasting 2 times a week.
Of course there is a whole science to fasting. There are healthy ways to fast which cure diseases and improve your immune system. There are unhealthy ways which ruin your gut health!!

Did you know that NOT eating for periods of time, can help your body to heal? Did you know that the body spends a huge amount of time and energy on digestion during which it does not work on healing you.
The body is an amazing bio computer. Left to itself it will work a miracle to heal every part of you. Yet we impose, late nights, old food, less sunshine, EM radiation, too much stress and so many other things on it…. till it protests… via dis-ease… to catch your attention.
So the next time you want to snack all day or feel like munching “just for the heck of it” remember when your body is not spending its full energy on digestion, it will start working on removing dead/ toxic cells.

Research by Nobel Prize winner Yoshinori Ohsumi in 2016 showed that if you keep the body without food for 16 hours to 18 hours at a stretch, the body starts a process known as “autophagy” This literally means “self-eating”.
For e.g. After an infection, autophagy can eliminate invading intracellular bacteria/viruses. So keeping a totally fasted state induces your body to start destroying toxic and sick cells. How exciting is this!!! Cells also use autophagy to eliminate damaged proteins and organelles, a quality control mechanism that is critical for counteracting the negative consequences of aging.
Disrupted autophagy has been linked to Parkinson’s disease, type 2 diabetes and other disorders. Mutations in autophagy genes can cause genetic disease. Disturbances in the autophagic machinery have also been linked to cancer.
